In the automotive "real" world, to get metallic pigments to stand up correctly is vital to avoid tiger stripes (you can always tell when a metallic car has been resprayed by an amateur!). So, to do the front part of the fuselage, I would spray clear base WITH levelling thinner to keep it tacky whilst refilling your colour cup with the duraluminum, and spray that on very slowly until you get the desired effect. Give it a go sometime... won't hurt!😊 All the best.

The two side blocks on the outside framework are Machine guns, and that odd piece with two curved leads are the ammunition boxes and feeds. HTH.

Love that paint application technique with the masking fluid and want to try it sometime. But I like the effect from when you rubbed off the masking more than after you blended it back. 😅 Thank you for sharing that tip. 🙏🏻 And weathering those rotor blades like that is brilliant, great effect.

very very nice engine build and coloring :) ps try for a next projekt the aka s dura aluminium its sligtly braunischer redisch as the normal alu. one idea for the engin cowling ar one schel out and mask it afhter you haf a window.

i have to say for an airfix model this seems very well designed. i bulit the 1/48th version and i remember a lot of putty work

An adventurous modeler would remove the large side panel to show the interior. Preferably the port side.

Some great work. I love the attention to detail you put into your builds and how you opt for the weathered look rather than the 'fresh from the factory' look.

Interesting thing to note, when chipping with hairspray/chipping fluid, you actually don’t need to be fast, it’s a myth. Your paint chips slightly easier when it’s only been put down for a short time but I’ve done chipping hours later with no bad results.

I live ten miles from RAF Odiham....Chinhooks make my house shake every time they fly over.....Superb aircraft....

So Hannants has moved to London now (sorry, but since the Brexit I wasn´t following it) Been to Lowestoft back in 1987.1988 when I was at TTTE Cottemore (GAF) a couple of times, Did I enjoy it? Still got modells that I bought there, Great built of the Chinook.

Very nice job on that one..i have fond memories of building the Matchbox kit in the late '80's..i had the Humbrol Authentic RAF colours to paint it in..hard to get in Oz if you live in the bush...turned out a treat..great display piece..not long after we had to move and i knew it wasn't going to cope with the move as we were just taking suitcases..so i left it in a ward drobe for someone to find..i just couldn't bear to throw it in the bin

Personal I perfer to paint on the spru itself before glue it together.

Interessting Kit and great build. I have a 72nd Trumpeter Kit of a Vietnam Era Chinook and i think this Airfix Kit is a nice "Comparsion" to an early Chinook, i order one of these!

Not 'narrsell' it is 'naysell' and also it is not 'sicklick' it is 'sighclick' just saying. Ex chopper engineer, and got a bit an@l, sorry about that. Great build though I must say.
